The Southeast Data Librarian Symposium (SEDLS) is returning online this year! The program will consist of workshops, short presentations, and networking opportunities Wednesday, Oct 14-Friday, Oct 16, 2026.
We are now accepting presentation proposals.
This year’s theme is “The People’s Data: Access, Literacy, and Trust.” This year’s theme invites us to explore data for the people and data to the people: public facing communication, accessibility in visualization, and the role of libraries in combating misinformation and misapplication. How are we fostering meaningful data literacy amid the rise of AI, algorithmic bias, and “vibe coding”?
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Misinformation/Misapplication
Accessibility in data and data visualization
AI in regards to data literacy education
Vibe coding: the patron-focused side of working AI
Democratizing access to data
Finding data, as data rescue efforts may be changing how/where we seek
Data literacy and services in teaching and research
Protecting sensitive data
Diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in data services
